Student Reporting

Terms / Reporting / Progress Reports

PowerSchool is the online conduit where students’ marks can be found, important information about the school and detailed information about your child’s schedule. We have seen PowerSchool's popularity grow to where many parents have said to us, “why do you send out report cards, as they are outdated when they arrive.” After doing some investigation, we have also come to the conclusion that report cards issued traditionally in December and March are outdated.

As a result of this investigation, and the continued success of reporting via PowerSchool, we no longer send paper report cards home in December and March (we will send home a year end report card in June). Due to the change in reporting, teachers felt that it was still important to comment on student progress and ensure that you are well informed of your child’s progress. To ensure that this happens, teachers will be doing the following:

1. PowerSchool User ID and Passwords will be mailed home in Mid-September to new and Grade 6 students. If you did not receive yours, please contact the school office 403-887-6371.

2. At any time, teachers can print a progress report if you would like a paper copy to review progress to date.

While we hope that this modified reporting process will give parents a better idea of their child's academic progress, we still want to see parents at interviews as we put a high value on face to face communication.

The table below lists the reporting terms and interview dates.

It is our hope that online communication will increase parent participation in your children's education, which in turn increases students’ interest in their learning. Online communication has proven to increase parents’ understanding of classroom procedures, philosophies, academic progress, and policies. Parents then feel more involved in their child's school and more connected to the teacher. In general, online communication improves parents’ attitudes toward conferencing with the school.

As always, parents are encouraged to drop in anytime. If you have any questions in regards to reporting, please do not hesitate to contact your child's homeroom teacher or school administration.

    2. If any assignment score is blue, click on it to find a comment specific to that assessment.
