January 31, 2021 - Short Term Operational Shift - Ecole Mother Teresa School

January 31st, 2021

RE: Moving to at-home learning with a return to school date of February 22nd, 2021

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We are writing to inform you that as of Monday, February 1st, 2021, all students at Ecole Mother Teresa School will be learning at home until February 12th, 2021. Due to the number of students (66%) and staff (52%) in quarantine we recognized that we needed to look at other possibilities for alternative learning. In collaboration with Alberta Education, we were granted a short term operational shift to at-home learning for Ecole Mother Teresa School from February 1st, 2021 - February 12th, 2021 and returning to in person learning on February 22nd, 2021. ~Please note that Winter Break is February 15th - 19th, 2021.

We remind parents/guardians and staff to continue monitoring for any signs or symptoms of COVID-19 as part of their routine daily practice. The Alberta Health daily checklist can be found here. As a reminder, if you/your child has any of the symptoms of illness listed on the Alberta Health daily checklist, please fill out the online Alberta Health Services COVID-19 self-assessment or call Health Link at 811 and stay home.

As we progress toward the beginning of 2021, we wanted to remind our school community of the importance of limiting social contact not only while at school, but also outside of school hours. We are closely watching the impact of COVID-19 cases in our province, we need your help. We recognize that this has been a long haul, we are praying for ‘normalcy’ to return again, and we thank you for your diligence and support.

School staff will be in touch with families about at-home learning at the beginning of next week to ensure that our students are still receiving a quality Catholic education. If you need technology during this time, please call the school to let them know and they will be in touch with you.

Thank you for your support and continued collective efforts in protecting our school community,

God bless,

Kathleen Finnigan, Superintendent of Schools
Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools
